FAQs
What is myVAILLANT?
myVAILLANT is a brand-new IoT platform, designed to make remote control of a Vaillant heating system easier and more streamlined for installers, specifiers, and homeowners alike. The platform will be continuously developed going forward, to include more features, and to allow even more integration between our products.
What does myVAILLANT consist of?
myVAILLANT consists of the new myVAILLANT app for homeowners, and the installer focused myVAILLANT Pro app, designed to give installer's access to any installations utilising a senso, VRC 700 or vSMART control.
What will happen to my existing apps?
After the roll-out of myVAILLANT and myVAILLANT Pro, the existing sensoAPP and VRC 700 app's will eventually be discontinued and moved across to the myVAILLANT platform. These apps will be phased out. The myVAILLANT app will become a direct replacement for these, and the sole platform needed for all installations utilising the senso and VRC 700 controls.
Which of my customers can use the myVAILLANT app?
Homeowners with a Vaillant heating system using one of the following controls (sensoCOMFORT, sensoHOME or VRC 700*) in combination with one of the following gateways (VR 920, VR 921) can use the myVAILLANT app after being migrated from the sensoAPP or VRC 700 app which must be downloaded first.
Customers using a myVAILLANT connect internet gateway can use the myVAILLANT app straightaway.
*VRC 700 available on myVAILLANT soon
When will the myVAILLANT app be available for my customers?
Homeowners will be notified when their Vaillant heating system is ready for use with the myVAILLANT app. The notification of the homeowner depends on the characteristics of their heating system. Although the myVAILLANT app can be downloaded from App-Stores at any time, it can be used only after having received the upgrade notification. By doing so, we ensure that the myVAILLANT app is working perfectly with all various types of heating systems.
What determines when a heating system can be used with the myVAILLANT app?
There are 4 parameters defining WHEN a Vaillant heating system can be used with the myVAILLANT app:
(1) Type of control used as part of the system
(2) Type and number of appliances in heating system
(3) Number of heating zones
(4) Additional features/components (ambiSENSE room-by-room control, ventilation and EEBUS)
The first heating systems that can be used with the myVAILLANT app are characterised as follows:
- Wall hung boilers with 1 heating circuit
- sensoCOMFORT, no additional features
What needs to be considered when modifications on the heating system (involving the components 1-4) are planned during the roll-out period of the myVAILLANT app from Q4 2020-Q4 2023?
A change of components (1)-(4) on a connected system before the homeowner has installed the myVAILLANT app is always feasible. The system change is detected automatically and the upgrade to myVAILLANT app of the customer's heating system will be postponed, if required. A change of components after the homeowner has installed the myVAILLANT app in some cases is not feasible until the new component has been released in the myVAILLANT app. For example, a customer wishing to retrofit their heating system with ambiSENSE TRVs needs to do so before they upgrade to the myVAILLANT app, as ambiSENSE will be supported by myVAILLANT app only in a later stage.
What are the steps my customers need to follow in order to use the myVAILLANT app?
Customers already using the sensoAPP or VRC 700 app will automatically receive a push-notification when the myVAILLANT app is ready and available for use on your customer's heating system. Your customer will then be guided through 3 simple steps by an upgrade assistant.
Step 1: An automatic update is performed on your customer's internet gateway.
Step 2: Your customer will be guided to the app store and asked to download the myVAILLANT app.
Step 3: Finally, the homeowner will be asked to set up their myVAILLANT app profile.

What Vaillant heating systems can be monitored with myVAILLANT Pro?
Vaillant heating systems utilising one of the following controls (sensoCOMFORT, sensoHOME, VRC 700) when in use with one of the following gateways (VR 920, VR 921/sensoNET). All heating systems that qualify for the myVAILLANT App upgrade, can also be monitored remotely using myVAILLANT Pro. Furthermore, Vaillant heating systems installed with a vSMART can also be monitored using myVAILLANT Pro, although are not compatible with myVAILLANT app for homeowners.
When can I start using myVAILLANT Pro for monitoring my customer’s heating systems?
You can start using myVAILLANT Pro straight away. You do not have to wait until your customer has installed the myVAILLANT app. However, the full functionality of myVAILLANT Pro is available only when your customer is using the myVAILLANT app.
What app do I set new systems up on?
If you're installing a new system with a VR 920 or VR 921/sensoNET gateway, you should still use the sensoAPP or VRC 700 app to set up the system. This is because of the software on the gateway that needs to get upgraded as part of the migration process.
Once the system has been set up, your customer will shortly receive a notification to upgrade to the myVAILLANT app.
