Q. What if I don’t comply?

A. If you as an installer fail to comply with Boiler plus, you could be prosecuted by Building Control.

Q. What if homeowners don’t want the controls?

A. Boiler Plus compliant controls don’t have to be expensive and complex, a simple boiler time control and load compensating room thermostat can be a simple and effective solution to compliance.

If a homeowner knowingly allows non-compliant work, they also face prosecution and could face a fine of up to £5000.

Q. Will there be a requirement to retrofit boilers?

A. No, these changes will only affect consumers when installing new boilers or when it is time to replace their current boilers.

Q. What is load compensation?

A. Load compensation is the ability to modulate the flow temperature from the boiler based on the actual room temperature. To do this, the control and boiler must ‘speak’ the same language. This is why for optimum boiler performance, Vaillant controls are the way to go.

Q. What is weather compensation?

A. Weather compensation is the ability to modulate the flow temperature from the boiler based on the outdoor temperature. This means your boiler knows exactly how hard it needs to work to get your house up to the desired temperature.

Q. What is Flue Gas Heat Recovery?

A. Flue Gas Heat Recovery involves recycling the heat from the flue gases to preheat the cold water in the system. This means reduced times to get your home heated and less demand on your boiler.

Q. Can I use 3rd party controls?

A. Some 3rd party controls can be used with Vaillant/Glow-worm boilers, however Vaillant/Glow-worm controls are recommended for optimum efficiency from your boiler. Our controls have a more intelligent ‘conversation’ with the boiler, meaning your boiler runs more efficiently, increasing the life of your boiler.
