Laptops for Learning Under Lockdown

Belper based Vaillant Group UK has been supporting students at the local high school to continue their learning at home during the lockdowns imposed due to halt the spread of COVID-19.

The IT department at Vaillant Group donated a large quantity of laptops to Belper School and Sixth Form Centre to help some of the 1,300 students to continue their studies while unable to attend lessons in person. The UK IT team worked in their private time to prepare unused laptops to ensure they were safe and ready to use straight away.

IT Network Manager at Belper School, Chris Ince, commented, “I would like to thank Vaillant Group for the extremely kind donation of laptops to the school. The donated laptops will enable us to provide education for our students by enabling a better remote learning experience for those that need it.

“As with most schools, we have had an allocation of basic laptops from the Department for Education to enable remote learning, however these are only for allocation to students meeting specific needs.

“Going forward, greater use of these online resources will continue as a supplement to the teaching in school. Access to devices such as the donated laptops will enable students to catch up on the vast amount of missed learning the pandemic has caused.”

Dan Whyld, head of Human Resources at Vaillant Group said, “Vaillant Group is a family company that is always investing in the future. When we realised that some children in our community were unable to access remote learning, we wanted to help. Our IT department worked very hard to prepare a large number of laptops to donate to children at Belper School so that they don’t get left behind either during any lockdown periods, or in the future when we anticipate there will more reliance on remote IT devices to support class-based learning. We’re very proud we are able to help children in laying the foundations for their future successes.”
